SP-USA Convention and New Socialist Women

info: Submitted by admin on Mon, 10/08/2007 - 3:30pm.

Susan Dorazio susandor(at)crocker.com

Comrades,

Two weeks from yesterday (i.e., Friday, October 19) the SP 2007 National Convention will be convening. As you will see from the agenda draft below, it will be a full 3 days of discussion and decision-making. I hope that many of you will be there, or will be in close contact with your delegates and alternates between now and then, so that your opinions will be represented.

SP women: I hope you will be able to attend a meeting of the Women's Commission over breakfast on Sunday morning. I also look forward to informal opportunities to talk with others about the status of and possibilities for women SP members, in the party and in our communities. One of the best ways women can influence the direction of the party is to be a National Co-Chair or Co-Vice-Chair, or a member of the National Committee. Please consider being a candidate for one of these leadership positions.

Also, the Convention Planning Committee is still looking for people to co-chair one of the convention sessions; to convene the platform, resolutions, or constitutional amendments committee; or to be a time-keeper, recorder, or parliamentarian. Just let me know if you are available to take on one of these roles. If you would like to serve on the Credentials Committee, you need to be at the National Committee meeting at 9:30 a.m. on Friday.

Finally, the Fall issue of Socialist Women is now available. To order a bundle, you can contact me at the above e-mail address, or Greg at the National Office. The theme of this issue is health care, so will come in handy for our work on the SP national campaign for socialized health care.

In solidarity,
Susan Dorazio
National Co-Chair
Convener, SP Women's Commission
